ABCs!!!

Today Tate and I were playing with his Fisher Price Peek a Blocks...the see through ones with the letter on one side and the figure inside.  I showed him the one with the 'x' and said 'what is this?' referring to the xylophone.  I figured he wouldn't know the word xylophone, and he didn't.  But he did know the letter was 'X'!!!!  I was shocked!!!  So, I started showing him the other blocks, and lo and behold he could rattle off most of the letters.  For whatever reason it never dawned on me to work on the letters with him with those. I always worked on the figures inside the blocks of which more than half he can and will name when asked.  Apparently, he's quite the student at school!!  :)

He counts to 10 with ease now, and also counts by pointing with no problems!  And he's always so proud of himself.  He gets this smug little grin.

And he is way smarter than I give him credit for being.  This afternoon I was in the living room, and I didn't hear any noise from him.  I walked into the kitchen and he was calmly eating a container of applesauce with a spoon on top of the trash can. He had opened the pantry door, got out the little applesauce, gotten a spoon out of the drawer, peeled back the top of the applesauce and was calming enjoying a late afternoon snack.  No need to ask permission when you can do it yourself.

There is now a doorknob cover on the pantry door.

I love this kid!!
