So, I finally bought Tate some 'real' shoes today. He's been in Robeez and Pedipeds since he started walking at 9 1/2 months. I just didn't see the point of real shoes. And I have been soooo resistant to going to Stride Rite to get him some shoes, but at his new wonderful daycare he plays outside every morning, and he little soft sole shoes just don't seem to be cutting it.
But I couldn't figure out why I didn't want to get the new shoes. Then today when he had them on and was running around the store I realized that my baby is becoming a little boy. And I was so sad. He's wearing little tennis shoes with hard soles and shoelaces!! He looks sooo big. I'm so not ready for this. He was happy as a clam.
We spent the hot hot day (100 degrees no less) playing outside at Discovery Green then our neighborhood park. Tate LOVES the slide, so here's a little video of him going down the slide in his new big boy shoes. When he gets to the bottom it looks like he's clapping, but that is also how he signs more. If I get it wrong and he doesn't want more...sheesh. And if he wants more and I think he's just happy double sheesh. Mealtime is fun at our house these days!!

He is so sweet! Abby signs more the same way.. I just bought her big girl shoes for daycare for the same reason. Once they are out of Robeez they really are toddlers aren't they? Time is going soooo fast....
I loved Robeez! My son had such big feet that he could only wear them for a short while. When we switched to "real" shoes, they were so clunky I felt like he went from baby to kindergartner.
At least Tate signs. My son learned them but refuses to sign. Refuses. We can have an enormous power struggle over "please". (Oh, but he'll use them all at daycare!)
