The Fifth Week of Summer 2015

Our 4th week of summer was thankfully calm and uneventful.  We spent Sunday hanging out at the house washing clothes, unpacking, sleeping in (a bit!) and enjoying the Houston weather :).

Monday Tate was off to Kidventure Camp for the week.  He absolutely loves Kidventure!  Which makes me so very happy!  He barely can tell me good-bye at drop-off.  I thought he might be a tad sad after spending 6 days straight with me, but nope!  I had to ask for a hug before I left!    He had swim lessons Monday afternoon, and my parents took him since he really enjoys it when they do.  We were back to our regular schedule with Nanny S picking him up on Tuesday.

I'm also loving how much he loves to read!!  Out loud and to himself :)  It took a while to get him to read to himself at home.

Vinnie joins us for bedtime stories every single night!
Friday I took Tate to camp then drove myself to the dealership to get my car mirror fixed....FINALLY!!  I broke it over 2 months ago scooting over to allow a car to pass on my other side on a small road.  I managed to smash my passenger side mirror on a trash can and off it went, though it hung on by the electric mirrors.  Sigh.  Anyway, it was fixed in less than 45 minutes!!!  So I ran some errands and did some stuff around the house.  Then I had to get dressed and made up as I had tickets to GARTH BROOKS for Friday night.  But first I had to go to Tate's KV Rally at 2:45, so I was all dolled up for my child's event :).  I arrived early enough to catch him still outside playing with his little group...I love seeing my child enjoy himself when he doesn't know I'm watching or anywhere nearby.

Then it was time for the little rally...so sweet.  I also love how Tate loves to know I'm watching him perform.  His little self-effacing grins, ducked head and happy walk just make my heart sing.  Goodness how I love this boy!

We zipped out there and raced home.  I was meeting my friends and sister at 4 for drinks and dinner before the concert!  So I dropped Tate at home with Nanny S and made my way to El Tiempo!  Yum!!  Their margaritas are lethal, but oh so good!!!

Then it was time for Garth!!!!  We got to the Toyota Center in time for a couple of drinks and fun people watching, then he took the stage.  I haven't seen him since his last tour in 1998 when I was in residency and went with my friend Cissy!!  17 years!!  He rocked this show!  We had an absolutely amazing time!  I haven't sung and danced so much since Keith Urban was last here.  But these songs, these Garth Brooks songs are etched in my past.  I feel like I've grown up with his music.  Each and every song has a story or part of my life.  From 'The Dance' to 'Fever' I have a memory sewn up with each one.  Each one is like a hug of my past.

Saturday morning I got up and made some muffins to take with us to our friends' house for the 4th of July party at their house!  Tate was thrilled to help!  Then we were off to our friends' house for the day!  It was lovely to just sit back and watch the kids swim in the pool and then to just sit back and watch 'Pretty Woman' while the kids played upstairs for hours.  It was like old home weekend for me...Garth Brooks, 'Pretty Woman'...just lovely.

Tate and I headed home around 6...wish I had left earlier as we got caught up in all the traffic going into downtown for the fireworks show.  But we made it home!  We were both absolutely exhausted.  Tate was asleep before 8, turning down extra stories because he wanted to go to sleep, and I followed soon after at 9:12 to the cacophony of fireworks going off downtown!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
