I can't remember a time I didn't want to be a mother. I waited to meet the man who would love me forever and be a father to my children. At 39, he hadn't arrived. I knew I was meant to be someone's mom, so my life plan changed. At 41, I got pregnant on my first try with home insemination! Nine months later, my beautiful boy, Tate arrived! We've been together now for over a year. I'm happy, exhausted and in love. I wouldn't have my life as a choice mom any other way!

Summer Fun - Finally! Part III of Weekend Five!
ACK! I'm behind, aren't I? Ok so the Friday of the 4th was quite festive for Tate and me :) We lazed about the house in the morning then headed off to soccer camp (no swimming lesson this week!). Soccer was pretty fun, though a bit stressful with the young boy, who has the same exact birthday as Tate, who spent the majority of the hour hitting my sweet Tate, complete with punching him in the stomach. This will be a whole other post though. Tate soldiered on and did well.
Team Huddle!
Such joy!
We ran home to change and headed over to his little daycare to pick up his sweet friend Alie who was going to spend the rest of the day with us!!! These two were thrilled to see one another!!
So. Much. Love.
I loaded both kids up in the car, and we headed off to lunch at Barnaby's.
Aunt Lindsey opted to be really brave and joined us for lunch! Two hyped 3 1/2 year olds make for a very interesting meal. But the kids did fairly well, and we escaped with nary a second glance!
Patiently coloring while we waited for our food!
Me and Aunt Lindsey!
We were then off to the Children's Museum.
They opted to read on the way!
The kids had a blast and of course Tate was all over the train at the entrance though Alie was less than impressed.
Poor Alie is so bored!
Tate was in heaven!!
A little grocery shopping!
Some outside water play!
Story time in the library!
Look how rude that man was! Shoes off! In a public place! Resting on the kids' books! EEEWWWW!! So rude!
With two happy (one very tired...Alie still naps usually) kids in tow we left the Children's Museum intact....
Friends Forever and Ever!
....and headed over to the Chocolate Bar. Alie's mom met us and we all enjoyed some chocolate treats.
We bid adieu to Alie and Ms. Sonya and made our way home, exhausted, full and happy. We hung out for the rest of the evening, had some dinner, and Tate was asleep by 7:30 in his last set of Fourth of July pajamas!
Sound asleep!
The rest of the weekend we just took it easy. Per his usual Tate was up by 6:15am both mornings, but I opted to turn on the computer, set him up to watch 'Super Readers' on YouTube and rolled back over! We ran errands, visited Aunt Lindsey, did puzzles, played 'The Game' aka 'Candyland' and watched a couple of 'Thomas' episodes. Saturday evening I had his favorite teacher come babysit him while I went to a wedding! Tate was beside himself with joy. He absolutely loves Ms. Joanie. He barely gave me a backwards glance as I headed downstairs and out the door. I had a lovely evening at a wedding for my friend R and his new wife at the always fantastic restaurant Brennan's. The ceremony was gorgeous, the food fabulous and the company entertaining. I was home by 9:30 though well aware that 6am would come really early. It did, but I had my plan with the computer in place!!
He had to show Ms. Joanie every single toy he has!!
She texted me this picture when he finally went to sleep!
Sunday was low key and just really nice. We ran out for some Marble Slab in the afternoon. (with some grocery shopping in the morning) But most of all we hung out at home!
I was so very excited to see how well he played by himself! He played on that train table for over an hour and a half. Such a sweet sweet boy. I couldn't be happier that he's able to enjoy his own company, I love his imagination and creativity as he creates stories for his trains. If I ask him to do something, he'll push an imaginary button on the table to 'pause it!' He's just amazing!! What a wonderful weekend!
Stop having so much fun! Tate is going to have an overload of great summer memories! What are you doing to the boy?! Friends, fun, food? This is crazy good!
