Easter is my most favorite Christian celebration...from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday...I love it all. The reflection, the anticipation, the sorrow and great joy...I embrace it all. As the most important tenet of the Christian faith I just am so moved by all it is. I so hope that Tate is understanding the importance of the events of those last days of Jesus' life on earth; from what I can ascertain he learned alot in his religion class those 40 days before Easter. He spoke of the crucifixion with a depth of understanding I didn't anticipate, so I'm grateful.
Since he is in Catholic school he only went half day on Maundy Thursday and he was off through Easter Monday. As I had to work both Thursday and Monday I made plans for him to enjoy his time off.
Thursday Nanny S picked him up after early dismissal and after they lunch they headed out to see the new movie 'Home.' I didn't know much about it, and I can't really get a synopsis out of Tate, but he said he really liked it...that's all that matters :).

Good Friday came and Tate and I enjoyed a lazy morning in. Then we met some friends at a local theater for a production of 'Flat Stanley-The Musical'! It was really cute, and the kids had a blast!

Saturday was our annual Tribal Easter Egg Hunt complete with great friends, awesome food, yummy mimosa, tons of cascarones and just plain great fun!!!! After everyone's belly was full the 'hunting' was on. To our surprise the children keep multiplying...and they're getting older (and much more competitive!) We let the youngest ones go out first for a 3-4 minute head start before letting the older ones bull doze over them!

| The kids were clamoring to get in the pool, so we finally gave in and let them run about and get their feet and legs wet while they played tag. |
We had a lovely night's sleep...he was so excited about the Easter Bunny! Who came to make his dreams come true (and a little something for me too :) )

He was a happy little boy Easter morning. I was worried he would give me a hard time about not being able to put it together before we went to church, but he was awesome about it!! We got dressed and headed over to celebrate the resurrection of Christ! We arrived 45 minutes early as did our friends with their 6 year old...the kids were just great though!! Super patient!!
The after church egg hunt was relocated to the parish hall due to the deluge of rain, so Tate collected the eggs he wanted and then insisted he had enough and was ready to go home.
He wanted to get home to his Legos. :)
There he remained for 2 hours putting that entire 842 piece set together! I've never seen a happier boy!
Our family came over to our house for Easter lunch...Tate was not deterred. It was lovely though to have everyone here for the afternoon.

Later on, Tate and I headed out to dinner at our friends' house. It's become a new tradition; one that I love and enjoy. I'm really enjoying being able to foster these relationships for Tate AND me with people of color! I think it's so very important, as do my friends. I so hope this continues for years and years to come!
We had the kids play while we adults ate our dinner in semi-peace, then we fed the kiddos! Then we had another indoor egg hunt for them!
I got Tate for bed and brushed his teeth, and then loaded him up in the car. We drove to my parents' house where we spent the night...they watched him for me on Monday. My dad even took Tate out for a bike ride with the intention of getting him to ride without training wheels. My cautious little boy wasn't quite ready, but my dad moved on training wheel up considerably. We just need a little more work and a little more nerve!! Tate had a great time just hanging out with my parents!!
It was a lovely weekend. A weekend of love, laughter, praise, worship, family, friends and joy. I could not ask for anything more.

It's difficult to pick a favorite photo, but I think mine is the 2nd confetti picture..followed closely by the one of Tate and his grandparents!
